This dynamic workshop explores the principles of positive psychology as powerful tools for fostering human flourishing. Participants will engage with concepts such as resilience, gratitude, grit, and post-traumatic growth, while examining the PERMA model, Seligman’s framework for understanding and measuring well-being. Through evidence-based research and interactive discussions, this session will highlight how these principles can promote emotional strength, mental well-being, and personal transformation. Participants will gain practical tools to apply these insights in both personal and professional contexts, empowering themselves and others to thrive in the face of challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.
About the Presenter:
Trainer, Dr. Heidi Schreiber-Pan is the author of Taming the Anxious Mind: A Guidebook to Relieve Stress and Anxiety. She is the Clinical Director of the Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative. Dr. Schreiber-Pan is also a successful psychotherapist, and sought-after nationwide speaker on topics of resilience, anxiety, neuroscience, and occupational burnout. As an affiliate and former faculty member of Loyola University, Maryland, her past research has focused on resiliency and psychological well-being, including nature-based mental health.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand Positive Psychology Principles Participants will gain a foundational understanding of key positive psychology concepts, including resilience, gratitude, grit, and post-traumatic growth, as well as the PERMA model for well-being.
- Apply Evidence-Based Practices Participants will explore practical tools and strategies to incorporate positive psychology principles into their personal and professional lives, fostering emotional strength and mental well-being.
- Enhance Therapeutic Outcomes Participants will learn how to integrate positive psychology principles into clinical practice to support clients in building resilience, fostering emotional well-being, and achieving meaningful, lasting change.

Deep Dive: The PERMA Model (25 minutes)
• Detailed explanation of each element of the PERMA model
Activity: Building Resilience and Grit (20 minutes)
• Practical exercise: Identifying personal strengths and coping strategies & outline action steps for cultivating grit and resilience
Post-Traumatic Growth and Meaningful Change (20 minutes)
Examination of post-traumatic growth and its role in transformation
