Webinar Description
In this workshop participants will have an opportunity to review the NASW Code of Ethics (COE) and survey frameworks for decision making when an ethical dilemma presents itself. In the first section, the workshop will include a historical overview of the COE’s evolution and define terms such as values and ethics. A review of the COE will explore the structure and specific sections of ethical conduct regarding responsibilities to clients, colleagues, practice setting, as professionals and to broader society.
The second section of the workshop will pivot to understanding ethical dilemmas in social work practice. A brief overview of several resources and frameworks are introduced (Allan Edward Barsky, Elaine Congress, Frank M. Loewenberg and Ralph Dolgoff, Marian Mattison, Frederic Reamer). A case study of an ethical dilemma will be provided and participants are afforded the opportunity to review its application to Reamer’s ethical decision making framework for evaluation. The second section will conclude with time for question and answers.
