Research indicates that resilience and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) are better predictors of future success than an IQ score. As a result, schools have begun to incorporate social emotional learning programs (e.g., school based DBT Curriculums) into their curriculum to teach EQ skills. The benefit of implementing these programs in the classroom is extensive. The students spend large amounts of time in school; and therefore, can learn a multitude of skills.  School personnel can be easily trained in the curriculum and the programs have the ability to be tailored to each school's specific cultural needs.
