Sexual History Intake equips therapists with the knowledge and skills to conduct comprehensive sexual histories competently and compassionately within clinical practice. Participants will examine therapist preparation, including cultivating a nonjudgmental stance, fostering cultural awareness, and managing reflexive responses. The course reviews key modes of assessment and emphasizes interview approaches such as normalization, ubiquity, and permission-giving that support open dialogue around sensitive topics. Content includes developmental and relational histories, sexual practices, medical factors, and problem assessment, as well as exploration of sexual scripts and the use of validated assessment instruments. Designed to strengthen professional competence, this training provides a structured framework that enables clinicians to respect patient boundaries, facilitate honest disclosure, and identify essential dynamics for effective treatment planning.
