Webinar Description

The literature reflects that post perinatal loss a space for parental grief is essential. Thus there is a need to broaden the understanding of pregnancy and infant loss and talk about the grief associated with it. We will explore some communication practices and compassionate care practices that help facilitate the grieving process. We will also help facilitate the development of new words and language surrounding these losses. We will address the prevalence of loss and the impact that pregnancy and infant loss does have on clients and identify barriers that a clinician might ace culturally and spiritually, that could impact the grieving journey. The course content includes differentiating Major Depressive Disorder and generalized anxiety from the normative grief responses to pregnancy loss and how mental health professionals can work through this diagnostic challenge. In addition, we will address what healing applications that can be used in a healthcare or a personal setting.
