This course provides an advanced, practice-oriented exploration of evidence-based treatments for male sexual concerns. Building on the preceding course, which focuses on the diagnosis of male sexual dysfunctions, this course shifts to the clinical application of therapeutic interventions. Students will learn how to treat conditions outlined in the DSM-5 and ICD-11, including erectile disorder, delayed ejaculation, premature ejaculation, hypoactive sexual desire disorder, and other clinically significant male sexual difficulties.
Throughout the course, learners will examine the biopsychosocial factors that contribute to male sexual dysfunctions and gain proficiency in the major treatment models used in psychosexual therapy, including cognitive-behavioral approaches, sex therapy techniques, mindfulness-based strategies, and integrative multimodal interventions. In addition to DSM and ICD disorders, the course also addresses sexual issues arising from medical illness (e.g., cancer, endocrine disorders), iatrogenic changes, trauma histories, and sexual concerns related to abuse.
Through case studies, treatment planning exercises, and applied clinical frameworks, students will develop the skills necessary to provide competent, sensitive, and evidence-informed treatment to men presenting with a wide range of sexual concerns. The course is designed for clinicians seeking to enhance their clinical confidence and expand their therapeutic toolkit in the treatment of male sexual issues.
